Altrincham is based in Trafford, eight miles south from Manchester City Centre.  It's known as a middle-class town which includes some affluent villages, such as Hale, Hale Barns, Bowden and Timpereley.  You may just bump into some footballers and soap stars from the likes of Coronation Street.  Altrincham is known as an affluent commuter belt with it's excellent transport links, linking Altrincham Interchange to many areas throughout the Manchester area.  Manchester Airport is a handy 5 miles away too.

Altrincham was established as a market town in 1290 and still features a trading market to this day.  Altrincham Market is at the heart of the re-invention of the town and features a permanent gusto hub where people can choose from a variety of eateries.  It also includes its own micro-brewery and is packed throughout the week.  Such was the dramatic transformation, Altrincham went from 'Ghost Town' with record number of shop vacancies to 'England's Best High Street'.  It won this award at the Great British High Street Awards in 2018.  The High Street features some of the UK's biggest brands including Next, Costa, Boots, M&S and River Island.

Altrincham is home to one of the most famous non-league football clubs in the country - Altrincham F.C.  'The Robins' play in the National League North but have built a reputation for themselves as 'giant-killers' having defeated a number of big league clubs.  Altrincham also has an ice-rink and host the Manchester Phoenix at the Altrincham Ice Dome.

It is also home to an annual music festival held on August Bank Holiday each year.  The Goose Green Festival attracts over 6,000 visitors over the two days and includes a number of unsigned music bans, plus local drink and food entertainment from the bars on Goose Green, plus other stalls.
